some precautions that can help protect you from Swine Flu.
- Wash your hands often and thoroughly
- Use a sanitizing gel when necessary
- Use good coughing/sneezing etiquette.
- Contact your physician if you develop flu symptoms.
To learn more about protecting yourself and others from Swine Flu, review our Flu Checklist as well as

You Can Help the Adams County, Indiana Red Cross
You can help the Red Cross both locally and nationally. Locally, you can help at
a bloodmobile, during a disaster, learn to teach
CPR, or in the office with data entry or answering phones. Please contact your Adams
County Chapter of the American Red Cross at 260-724-9106, by e-mailing us at
adamsredcross@embarqmail.com.
We are currently seeking new members to join our board of directors. Our board members
provide direction and set local policy for the chapter, monitoring and evaluating
the actions of the chapter staff and volunteers to make sure that what needs to
happen does happen.
There is a saying in the Red Cross that being a disaster services volunteer is
the best job you’ll never get paid to do. So why would anyone voluntarily
sign up to spend three weeks trudging through flooded neighborhoods amid mud and
mosquitoes, or helping families put their lives back together following the devastation
of a house fire or tornado? Perhaps it is because human nature is the one force
that is more powerful than Mother Nature.
Red Cross disaster volunteers are people who can look past destruction and despair,
and offer what is needed most in the first hours after a disaster—a safe place
to stay, warm and dry clothes, a hot meal, and a shoulder to cry on. Anyone interested
in becoming a Red Cross volunteer should contact us at (260) 724-9106
or e-mail us.
All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations
of time and money from the American people. You can help those affected by thousands
of disasters across the country each year by making a financial gift to the American
Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which enables the Red Cross to provide shelter,
food, counseling and other assistance to those in need. Call 1-800-HELP NOW
or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish) to donate to national campaigns or call the Adams County,
Indiana Chapter at (260) 724-9106.
Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to the Adams County Chapter,
P.O. Box 295, Decatur, Indiana 46733 or to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37243,
Washington, DC 20013. Internet users can make a secure online contribution by visiting
www.redcross.org..
Now We Need Your Help
The Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food,
counseling and other assistance to those in need for this disaster and thousands
of other disasters across the country each year. In fact, the Red Cross responds
to approximately 70,000 disasters a year which means about every eight minutes
our volunteers and employees help individuals whose lives have been devastated by
disaster.
The Disaster Relief Fund allows the Red Cross to act immediately, when help is needed
most. However, the Disaster Relief Fund must be replenished constantly. Because
the Red Cross is not a government agency, we depend on the voluntary contributions
of the American people.
It is through your generosity that we continue to provide the unique and vital services
Americans depend on in times of crisis. Please support the efforts of the Red Cross
and give generously to help the disaster relief efforts. Call 260-724-9106 to contribute.
